This painting came out of a storm inside me. I felt both drowned and alive at once. The song behind it carried that same duality — calm surface, raging current underneath. I stopped trying to make it ‘pretty’ and instead let the murky layers speak. The koi became a symbol of quiet resilience, moving through the weight of emotion with its own fierce light. The koi was my anchor, a reminder that strength lives in the unseen.
